Description

THE ALL NEW FREAK FREAK XL BOREMASTER KIT IN BLACK NITRIDE STAINLESS STEEL WITH BOOM TREATMENT.

This Freak XL Boremaster Insert Kit has already received the Ultra Silk Boom Juice Treatment!

The Ultra Silk Boom Juice Treatment for your barrel kit will help increase velocity by reducing friction and will allow you to shoot through broken balls with ease! This heat activated formula that is applied to the inner surfaces impregnates all of the open pores in your barrel inserts and imperfections are virtually eliminated. Once complete you’re left with a dry film that bonds to the surfaces and leaves the inside with an incredibly smooth finish that will repel dirt, dust and broken paint.

The official freak inserts need no introduction.  They have been at the pinnacle of the barrel world for years, allowing users to custom tailor their barrels to their paintball sizes. In a collaboration between Infamous and GOG we have developed a full stainless steel XL insert kit with black nitride treatment!

What is special about the Infamous® Freak Insert set?

Not just black for a cosmetic reason, the unique black tone of the Infamous® Freak® inserts are designed for increased durability and performance.

Infamous® edition Black Nitride Freak® inserts are superior to standard Stainless Steel inserts due to the case-hardening process used to increase the inserts wear resistance, corrosion resistance and lubricity. Unlike anodizing or plating, the nitride process does not effect tolerances or weight of the insert and will never flake or peal.

The process used on the Infamous® inserts is a nitrocarburizing case hardening, known as quench polish quench nitriding, or by the brand names of QPQ®, Tufftride®, Tenifer® or Melonite®.

The surface properties of this treatment increases surface hardness by as much 300% over the base stainless material. Additionally the stainless base material takes on its characteristic black color.

What is Black Nitride?

Blacknitride+™, or Ferritic Nitrocarburizing, is the thermochemical that simultaneously diffuses nitrogen and carbon into the surface of ferrous metals. During the process, a two-part surface layer is formed, an outer iron nitride layer with a nitrogen diffusion layer below it. Nitrogen and carbon are absorbed by and diffused into the surface of the metal. Reproducible and uniform layers with a predetermined thickness will be formed on all areas of the metal. This process results in markedly improved surface properties on ferrous metal parts while maintaining dimensional and shape stability.

Why is it better?

  • Increased wear resistance
  • Improved fatigue strength
  • Better corrosion resistance
  • Improved lubricity
  • Enhanced cosmetic appeal

Why does the laser marking color vary in my Infamous® Boremaster® set?

Due to the nature of QPQ nitriding, there will be slight variance in the lasers ability to penetrate & bleach the color of the iron nitride surface. Lasering does not remove or reduce the surface treatment, it simply alters the color of the oxide itself.

The variance in color is not a result of layer thickness, or laser power/function.

The variance in color occurs due to the alignment of the iron particles in the material surface. Particles in the surface oriented away from the laser source will be less bleached of color than other particles that are parallel to the laser source.

The resulting variance will yield a surface color varying from a silver to a gold hue, and is to be expected when lasering a material with this hardness & chemical composition.
